Look for a Samsara, Motive, or Netradyne installer around Baltimore or DC and you will find three kinds of outfits: the installers listed in a vendor's partner directory, the national install networks, and car-audio shops. We are a fourth kind: two installers in Laurel, Maryland, with close to 40 combined years of 12-volt work between us. We install all three platforms on-site at fleet yards every week across the corridor and the rest of the Mid-Atlantic, and we coordinate the hardware shipment with your vendor rep so it lands the week the trucks are scheduled.
We are not on any manufacturer's certified-partner list. That is worth explaining up front, because it is a fair question to ask any installer, and it is worth knowing what the badge does and does not tell you.
What “certified installer” means
Samsara and Netradyne run installer partner or certification programs. An installer takes the vendor's training and gets a listing in the directory. What the badge tells you is that the shop has been through the vendor's material on how the hardware connects, which is useful. It does not tell you where they took power from, whether they metered the circuit, how they handled the A-pillar on a van with curtain airbags, or whether anyone looked at the dashboard before the truck left.
The install is the same job on all three platforms once you know each one's hardware, and we would rather be judged on what your dashboard shows the morning after we leave than on a logo. If a certified badge is a hard requirement on your procurement side, say so early.
What matters more than the badge
Clean power
The gateway on the diagnostic port takes care of itself on Samsara and Motive. The camera is where the decisions live, and on Netradyne Driveri everything is a decision because it is hardwired: constant, ignition, and ground, with nothing upstream to lean on. The circuit gets metered with the key in every position before anything is tapped, it gets fused, and ground goes to bare metal with a ring terminal. Piggybacking on a circuit because it looks right can leave a camera sharing a feed with something that spikes when it switches.
Routing
Camera cable runs from the glass, along the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the dash. That pillar has an airbag behind it in most modern vehicles. The cable is routed clear of the deployment path, secured at intervals, and given strain relief at both ends so vibration on the Beltway cannot back a connector out. Trim goes back with every clip seated. The gateway is mounted, not hanging off its own harness in the footwell.
Verification in the platform before the vehicle leaves
On Samsara we run the install-app checks in the cab: gateway online, camera live on both lenses, VIN read, vehicle assigned. On Motive it is the Vehicle Gateway showing connected in the fleet dashboard with engine data moving, and the AI Dashcam showing a live image. On Netradyne it is the Driveri Installer app: unit online, calibrated, and producing a clean frame of the driver and the road. If it cannot be verified, it is not counted as done, and we tell you what was verified on each vehicle.
How the hardware goes in on each platform

The harness detail is where mixed fleets get caught. A Samsara or Motive gateway needs the cable that matches the port: 16-pin OBD-II on the vans and pickups, green or black 9-pin Deutsch on the tractors depending on year, 6-pin on older trucks. We sort that from your vehicle list before the order ships, so the right count of each cable is in the box.
How shipping and scheduling actually work
The hardware ships from the vendor, and our part is coordinating with your vendor rep so the shipment lands at your yard the week the installs are scheduled, rather than a month early in an office where boxes get opened, mixed, and lost. Serial numbers should be matched to your vehicle list before install day so the dashboard names line up with the unit numbers on the doors.
Then the rollout goes in batches. A Beltway HVAC contractor with forty vans does not park forty vans, so the rollout runs ten or twelve at a time around the dispatch schedule, which for most fleets means between routes or outside the busiest hours. A drayage fleet at the Port of Baltimore has tractors cycling through the yard on their own schedule, so the batch is whatever is in the yard that session. A government-contractor fleet working secured federal sites in DC or Northern Virginia should expect to send the installer's Certificate of Insurance and IDs ahead of time and to plan the session around the escort, which changes how many vehicles fit in a day. Vehicles never leave your operation, and nobody misses a dispatch for an install.
Switching between the three
A lot of installer searches in this corridor are really migration searches: the Motive contract is up and Samsara won the renewal, or a safety program is adding Netradyne cameras on top of an existing gateway. The old gateway comes out, the old harness comes out of the dash instead of being left taped up behind the kick panel, and the new unit goes in and gets verified in the same visit. Leaving wiring debt behind is how the next installer inherits a dash full of mystery splices. From Laurel we cover the whole corridor in normal working distance: I-95 and the B-W Parkway between Baltimore and DC, the Beltway, I-270 up to Frederick, and out to Annapolis, plus the rest of Maryland, Virginia, DC, Delaware, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania on a scheduled basis.
