GPS Fleet Tracking Installation, Done Right the First Time

We install GPS fleet tracking across Maryland and the rest of the Mid-Atlantic — Virginia, DC, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania. On-site at your yard, on your schedule, across every vehicle type you run: sedans, pickups, vans, box trucks, buses, heavy tractors, trailers. Clean power, smart placement, and every unit verified reporting before we move to the next bay.

What a clean tracker install looks like

A GPS tracker has three jobs: get power, see sky, stay hidden. A clean install nails all three.

John and Phil have nearly 40 combined years of 12-volt work behind them — car-audio roots, then automotive electronics, now fleet telematics. It shows in the wiring you never see.

Covert, OBD, or hardwired — the right mount for each vehicle

OBD plug-ins install in seconds. That's their whole pitch — and their problem. They sit in plain sight, they tie up the diagnostic port, and any driver who wants to disappear can pull one in traffic.

Hardwired trackers get constant power, ignition sense, and a real ground. They ride out cold starts, jump starts, and years of vibration, and the port stays free for the shop. For most working fleets, hardwired is the answer.

Covert installs are hardwired installs taken one step further — the unit buried where nobody finds it without knowing where to look. That's the mount for theft recovery and for vehicles that keep losing their trackers. Mixed fleets usually need a mix. We spec the mount per vehicle type, not per catalog page.

Powered vehicles are one job. Trailers are another.

A pickup gives you 12 volts anywhere you want it. A trailer parked in a drop yard gives you nothing. Different problem, different hardware.

For trailers, chassis, and unpowered assets, we install battery-powered asset trackers — or wire into trailer power where it exists. Placement does the heavy lifting: mounted where a fifth wheel, a forklift, or a Mid-Atlantic winter won't shear it off, with a clear view of the sky. We install on trailers and intermodal chassis the same way we install on trucks: like it has to last.

Ghost units and dead trackers are an install problem

Every fleet manager who's run a big rollout knows the ghosts. Units that show online for a week, then go dark. Trackers that report all day and die overnight. Dots frozen on the map since the day the truck left the yard.

Almost none of that is the hardware. It's a vampire tap corroding on a damp harness. A tracker wired to a circuit that dies with the key. An antenna buried under steel, grabbing a fix on the highway and losing it in the yard. Unfused power that took the unit out the first time something shorted.

The fix is the install. We wire trackers to hold — it's the whole reason you hire a fleet GPS installer instead of handing drivers a box of plug-ins. And if the last crew left you a fleet of ghosts, we de-install, re-wire, and get the map honest again.

Units arrive as installs are scheduled

A fleet-wide rollout is a logistics job before it's a wiring job. We coordinate directly with your hardware vendor — Motive, Samsara, Netradyne, or any 12-volt telematics platform — so units arrive as installs are scheduled. No pallet of trackers sitting in your office for a month. No crew standing around waiting on freight.

We come to your yard, depot, or lot anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic, including the Baltimore–Washington corridor. Vehicles never leave your operation. Quotes within 48 hours — call or text (240) 896-2800, or email john@pgautoinstalls.com.

Straight answers

Should our fleet use OBD plug-in or hardwired trackers?

Hardwired, for most working fleets. OBD plug-ins are quick, but they sit in plain sight, tie up the diagnostic port, and pull out with two fingers. Hardwired units get constant power and ignition sense and survive years of vibration. We spec it per vehicle type when we quote.

Can you install trackers on trailers that have no power?

Yes. Unpowered trailers, chassis, and assets get battery-powered asset trackers, or we wire into trailer power where it exists. Mounting is the real craft — placed to survive weather and yard handling, with a clear view of the sky. Trailers and intermodal chassis are standard work for us.

Why do some of our trackers ghost on and off the map?

Almost always the install. A corroded vampire tap drops power intermittently. An antenna under steel grabs a fix on open highway and loses it in the yard. A unit wired to the wrong circuit dies with the key. We wire clean the first time — and re-wire other crews' work when it comes to that.

How does hardware shipping work for a big rollout?

We coordinate directly with your vendor so units arrive as installs are scheduled. You don't warehouse trackers, and nobody waits on freight. Tell us the platform and the fleet — we handle the timing with the vendor.

Tell us your fleet. We'll wire it.
